There is a quote that is often attributed to Thomas Edison that I just love: “Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work” Darren Lifferth shared some great insights in how he has embraced the opportunities that have been placed in his path along his journey and he has been an example in my life in many ways. We discussed one of these in the triathlon we were a team with Tom Trythall where we ended up taking third place in the team category. This experience reminded me how important it is to focus on what I know and the basics in a challenging opportunity. Darren also shared a story about how his wrestling coach challenged him to put in the work and arrive before and leave after everyone else on the team which led him to more success than he thought possible. He also referenced his father who at 80 years of age continues to put in the work to embrace the opportunity to serve others and shows our greatest joy in life comes from serving others!
